چکیده

We have studied 17 patients diagnosed in life as having absent left atrioventricular connection (14 patients) or an imperforate left atrioventricular valve (three patients). Ten patients presented below the age of 3 months with tachypnoea, mild cyanosis, and heart failure. Seven patients, including two with moderate and one with severe pulmonary outflow tract obstruction, presented at a mean age of 45 months (range six months to 16 years). Six patients had a non-restrictive interatrial communication when first catheterised. In the remainder the mean interatrial gradient was 14 mmHg. Excluding patients with pulmonary outflow tract obstruction the

Atresia of left atrioventricular orifice. Anatomical investigation in 62 cases.

Sixty-two hearts without a patent exit from the left atrium to the ventricular mass have been studied. All had situs solitus and laevocardia. The material consisted of 32 cases with coexistent aortic atresia and 30 cases with patent aortic root. Five hearts with aortic atresia were biventricular with atrioventricular concordance and imperforate left atrioventricular valves, and 27 hearts were u...

Recognition of imperforate atrioventricular valves by two dimensional echocardiography.

The majority of hearts in which selective right or left atrial angiography shows no direct communication between one atrium and a ventricular chamber are considered to be examples of atresia of the right or left atrioventricular valves. Most patients presenting with the clinical features of tricuspid atresia have an absent right atrioventricular connection, while those with features of mitral a...

Absent left atrioventricular connection with right atrium connected to morphologically left ventricular chamber, rudimentary right ventricular chamber, and ventriculoarterial discordance. Problem of mitral versus tricuspid atresia.

Four cases of absent left atrioventricular connection are reported. The observations from these cases have been used to emphasise problems concerning the use of the confusing terms "tricuspid" and "mitral" atresia to describe such hearts. One of the four cases represents a very uncommon condition since the rudimentary chamber was contralateral to the side of the absent emphasis given to the sur...

Tricuspid atresia: analysis of coronary artery distribution and ventricular morphology.

There is still disagreement concerning the precise nature of the anterior ventricular chamber in "tricuspid atresia". Some argue that it is a right ventricle, while our own previous studies have suggested it is comparable to the outlet chamber seen in classical "single ventricle". We have compared the morphology of the anterior ventricular chambers in 48 examples of tricuspid atresia (absent ri...

Case 1/2017 - Percutaneous Repair of Right Atrioventricular Valve Insufficiency and Blalock-Taussig Shunt after Fontan Operation in Single Ventricle

Twenty-seven-year old male patient reporting tiredness during exercise for three years, after total cavopulmonary connection with extracardiac conduit fenestration and closure with stiches of the free end of right atrioventricular valve (AV) for severe failure in double inlet left ventricle, pulmonary atresia, and aorta arising from rudimentary right ventricle. The patient had undergone right a...
